The Boston Tea Party and The Sons of Liberty
"He who is void of virtuous ATTACHMENTS in private life is, or very soon will be, void of all regard for his country. There is seldom an instance of a man guilty of betraying his country, who had not before lost the feeling of moral obligations in his private connections."
Samuel Adams |
The Boston Tea Party, was an event where 342 chests of the British East India Company Tea got smashed and thrown over the Boston Harbor by the Sons Of Liberty disguised as Mohawk Indians. This was the result of the Tea Act Parliament passed down, and what this Act did was that it raised taxes on tea so Great Britain can get its revenue. This was a very significant act in the American Revolution that served as a catalyst starting the Intolerable Acts and The Revolutionary War. These acts gave more power to the government, limited and almost ceased trade at the Boston Harbor. The Intolerable acts made it clear to the other colonies in North America, that if this can happen to one colony then it can can happen to all the colonies. This act violated the rights of the citizens and created the First Continental Congress in Philadelphia due to the Intolerable Acts by the Parliament. The people that organized The Boston Tea Party were called the Sons of Liberty. These people were mere businessmen, yet they were the flint and steel of the Revolutionary War. The Parliament thought that Mohawk Indians organized the Boston Tea Party, but honestly it was the Sons Of Liberty that were disguised as the Indians. This is a vivid description on both the Boston Tea Party and The Sons of Liberty.
