The Founder of the Sons of Liberty: Samuel Adams
" It does not take a majority to prevail... but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men."
Samuel Adams |
Samuel Adams was born on September 27, 1722, and while growing up he bankrupted his father's business, did poorly in his core academics, but always was aware of the politics. When he was a man he was a Boston Attorney and he was finally realizing that there is a connection between practicing your religion and expressing yourself. His concern on the colonist's civil rights positioned him on the opposition of the British Empire. He published articles on the Boston Gazette about the injustices Parliament did against them. Samuel Adams biggest and most significant achievement was the founding and the organization of the Sons of Liberty. This group had a core nine, and at that time many colonists thought that there rebellious policies were extremely radical and unorthodox. In slang they were called the "Boston Mob". The Sons of Liberty attacked swiftly and sharp at big targets such as Royalists, Tax Collectors, and even the Royal Army. They attacked these specific people to generate an opposition on the Parliament. Sam Adams quickly became a propagandist, spreading false and true rumors about the Empire. It was first was a non-violent war, but because of their bold actions the Boston Massacre happened. Sam Adams greatest failure was the protest of the Boston Massacre. Even though Sam Adams was thought of a gangster, he was the strongest and most organized person who started the rebellion just for our civil rights.
He was never thinking about himself, he was truly the spark that ignited out Revolutionary War. |
